This thumb joystick is similar to the 'analog' joystick on the PlayStation controllers. The movement between the X and Y axis will generate different analog signals. The joystick also has a push button which could be used as a controlling function. The 2 analog outputs represent the location of the two potentiometers and the digital output represents the push button.
